\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMORINA longifolia \nOften referred to as Whorlflower or Long-leaved Whorlflower. \nAn odd but desirable plant which looks for all the world like a thistle although they are not related. \nThe dark green glossy foliage of Whorlflower with its spiny edges form a basal rosette which when brushed against release a wonderful citrus-like scent. \nIn July and August well established plants poke up stout, strong stems which are encircled with rows of exotic, almost orchid-like, waxy white flowers. \nAfter pollination by the bees these tubular blooms turn bright pink, later to crimson red and by late summer it is possible to have pink, red and white flowers on the same spike. \nMorina longifolia will repeat flower if dead-headed. \nSeldom growing more than 60cm tall it is suitable for the herbaceous border or bed and will also thrive in a woodland setting. \nUnfussy about soil type but prefers a moist, free draining site in full sun however Morina longifolia will tolerate partial shade. \nOverwatering in winter should be avoided. \nFully hardy and evergreen in a mild winter this native of Nepal which was named after the French nurseryman who produced the world’s first plant catalogue around 1620 is exquisite, long lived and rare. \nAll pictures of Morina used are of mature plants in full bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur  Whorlflower are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions. \nThere are some great pictures of this wonderful plant on the Encyclopedia of Plants , why not have a look. \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nOur wide and varied range of Perennials can be view here. \nPlease remember, plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Morina are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
