A rice spoon or shamoji in Japanese is a large flat spoon used for mixing and serving rice. The Japanese name literally means "rice paddle", which is reflected in the shape. The small bumps on the surface are a welcome addition to the traditional dish as they prevent the rice from sticking to the spoon. Of course, the rice spoon can also be used for other grain products such as couscous, polenta or millet. It also works great with ice cream. The STAUB rice spoon is part of a new series of kitchen utensils that complements our kitchenware range. It is made of matte black silicone, which is very heat resistant and suitable for non-stick surfaces. For rice and other grains, this is better than a metal spoon because it damages fewer grains.
